Messaufgaben und Formerkennung
Für Messungen von geometrischen Größen mit hoher Genauigkeit und Reproduzierbarkeit ist eine formatfüllende Abbildung aus Gründen der Auflösung erforderlich. Daher sind dafür Objektive mit geringer Verzeichnung, hoher Modulationstiefe und kleinem Bildfeldwinkel zu wählen. Bei Objekten mit ausgeprägten Formen in Richtung Objektiv sind telezentrische Objektive zu empfehlen.
Qualitätskontrolle und Teileerkennung
Um Merkmale eines Objekts auf der Oberfläche zu erkennen oder zu prüfen, sind Verzeichnungsfreiheit und Kontrast im Bild die Grundlage für die Qualität der Resultate. Oft werden Makroobjektive im Nahbereich verwendet.
Code- und Klarschriftlesung
Die Erkennungsalgorithmen sind tolerant gegenüber Abweichungen in der Form und Größe der Muster. Daher sind dafür die Anforderungen an die Qualität der Optik nicht ganz so hoch. Preisgünstige Objektive wirken sich in der Wirtschaftlichkeit von Bildauswertesystemen vor allem beim Einsatz in mehreren Lesestationen aus.
Vollständigkeitskontrolle und Handhabung
Zur Lokalisierung und Mustererkennung gelten die gleichen Kriterien wie für Messaufgaben oder Teileerkennung.
